Asbestos and Lead
Asbestos is a naturally occurring, fibrous mineral that can only be identified under a microscope. It comes from a rock- Chrysotile- which can be found all over the world. Lead is a poison. It can be found in paints, solder fumes, dust and other forms. Materials that may potentially contain asbestos and lead can be sampled and tested so the proper removal procedures are followed to ensure safety.
Mold
Molds are part of the natural environment, and can be found everywhere, indoors and outdoors. Mold is not usually a problem, unless it begins growing indoors. Some molds become a health issue causing respiratory problems. Once mold has grown indoors, it is important to have the affected areas cleaned by professionals and then surface tested to ensure the mold spores have been adequately removed. Air sampling may be conducted as well.
Indoor Air Quality
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Health effects from indoor air pollutants may be experienced soon after exposure or, possibly, years later. Advantage Environmental may test the air for contaminants and is trained to conduct air duct cleaning.
Sampling and Analysis
Before large projects, it is useful to sample for hazardous materials that are common in the geographical area or time era in which the specific building was built in. These samples may range from soil to drywall, or concrete to air samples. Once collected, they are analyzed to determine what safety measures need to be taken to complete the project in a safe manner.
Respirator Fit Testing
Respirators are part of most personal protective equipment (PPE) for jobs that range from the medical field to those in construction. The proper fit and knowledge of respirators can ensure that the individual donning them is protected from the specified air contaminants. Respirators are found in different models and protection levels. Advantage Environmental is able to train/test on a range of respirators.
ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT
Every job site will present a different set of environmental, health, and safety factors that need to be considered when creating a job plan. Advantage Environmental surveys, samples, and analyzes each site to ensure every necessary environmental, health, and safety measure is taken.
